Girls Curling - Sam Prokopich
This year, the MVP award for the girls curling team goes to Sam Prokopich. As skip for the last 2 years, Sam has proven herself a true leader, not only producing amazing shots to win the game, but keeping things positive on and off the ice, no matter what. She offered high fives to her teammates when shots were made, shrugs and shoulder rubs when they didn’t quite hit the target. She continued to develop and improve her ability to call the game, strategizing with the rest of the team and looking at all the angles. Solid play throughout the 2019-20 season had the girls capturing the KPAC banner, and heading to Beausejour for Provincials. There they continued to perform well under Sam’s leadership, advancing to quarter finals. She always had a smile on her face and kept the team motivated. Congratulations, Sam, on being awarded our most valuable player!

Boys Curling - Bailey Hebert
The boys curling MVP is awarded to one of our veteran players who, this year, along with his cousin and teammate Rachel, tackled the challenges of becoming our first official Mixed Curling Team. This grade 12 student came to us with plenty of curling experience, honing his skills at the Tyndall Curling Club, alongside many family members. His dedication was evident – he attended practices and games regularly, working around conflicts as best he could to ensure that he would be there for his team. After being edged out in the KPAC final after an amazing season, the Mixed Team was awarded a Wild Card spot in Provincials, based on their outstanding performance throughout the season. There, they had an incredible run, just missing finals by one shot. This young man’s positive attitude came through in his leadership and play, his maturity was evident in response to criticism and critique. We would like to congratulate Bailey Hiebert on being awarded this year’s Boys Curling MVP. |
